Cell Counter & Analyzer

Multi-parameter - Accurate - Reproducible

  • Simple – No staining or sample preparation
  • Fast – Results in as little as 10 secs
  • Unique – cell volume based detection and aggregation correction
  • Reliable – highest reproducibility even in critical applications (PBMC, Cell- & Immunotherapy, stem cell research, biomanufacturing, …)
  • Modular – configure your CASY just the way you need it
  • Cell QC – viability, cell size distribution (0,7-120um)

Globally, thousands of users, industrial and academic, trust CASY, the legend in cell counting. Whether working with mammalian cells, yeast, bacteria or one of many other cell types, CASY users rely on the unmatched precision, reproducibility and accuracy of the instrument combined with easy and intuitive use.

Why CASY provides superior performance

CASY uses Electronic Current Exclusion (ECE) technology. During measurement, each particle, nuclei or cell passing through the defined pore generates an electronic signal. The intensity correlates directly with their size and conductivity.

Electronic Current Exclusion means that CASY uses a frequency of 1 MHz for detection of cells passing the pore and integrates the signal over time of passage. As a result, CASY detects precisely the volume of cells, independent of their shapes.

Viability: Viable and Dying/Dead cells are detected with different volumes. Viable cells, with a polarized membrane generate a high resistance signal correlating with the full volume of the cell. Dying or dead cells display a much lower resistance due to their depolarized or fully disrupted cell membrane.

Aggregation correction: CASY provides a large dynamic measuring range, which ranges from small debris to even large aggregates of cells. Aggregates are detected precisely by their total cell volume which allows calculation of the number of single cells they include.

Flexibility: CASY can be used for a large variety of sample types including Bacteria, Yeast, Algae and Protozoa, Platelets, PBMC, various Mammalian,  different StemCells and more. Additionally CASY can be customized to individual needs – please contact us for more details.

Reliability and Precision: Several thousands of cells detected in a single measurement in no time are the basis for CASY’s highest reproducibility and reliability. Even working with replicates and mean results are options of the new CASY software. Try yourself and compare with other counting methods.

We have been using CASY for the fast and reliable determination of cell concentrations and cell diameters of our cell cultures for 20 years now. We are still impressed by the high reproducibility of the measurements and the simple, intuitive operation of the device. The associated software offers great options for managing and displaying the measurement results graphically.

Dr. Heike Schwarz, Leitung Abteilung Zellbiologie, DIARECT AG

We study the regulation of cancer cell growth by signaling and metabolism. CASY is the ideal system for us to precisely measure proliferation and cell size of a wide range of cell lines. In this context, the new software makes instrument operation as well as data visualization and organization easy and convenient.

Dr. Wilhelm Palm, Head of the Junior Research Group Cell Signaling and Metabolism, German Cancer Research Center

We use CASY cell counter for toxicological studies at a single animal level. The CASY cell counter proved to be an accurate and sensitive instrument for ecotoxicological applications allowing fast, simple and label-free measurements.

Prof. Dr. Konstantinos Grintzalis, School of Biotechnology, Dublin City University

Cytotoxicity Assays using CASY enable us to perform fast, simple and reliable assessment of anti-cancer drug regimens and the subsequent chemosensitivity of carcinoma cell lines. A major advantage of CASY is that debris and dead cells can be masked in the analysis by a simple cell line specific setup and only viable cells and their aggregates are considered. However, as a complete cell status is recorded, also dead cells and debris data are available at any time.
