The efficiency of transfection can be influenced by the composition of the medium in which cells are grown. For most transfection reagents, the transfection efficiency is reduced with increase in concentration of serum. Hence, low serum and serum-free media are preferred over serum containing media. RSL013 is a reduced-serum modified form of Minimum Essential Medium Eagle. Additional factors present in the formulation allow up to 50% reduction of serum while culturing adherent as well as suspension cells without need of prior adaptation.
