The tumor necrosis factor is a multifunctional signal protein of the immune system (cytokine) which is involved in inflammation processes. TNF is mainly secreted by macrophages and also by various cells including, activated monocytes, B cells, T cells, adipocytes and fibroblasts. TNF can trigger different processes like apoptosis, cell proliferation, cell differentiation and the release of other cytokine counts to it.
