Interleukins are peptide hormones. This cytokines provide the communication between leucocyte and are involved in the immunological reaction. IL12 stimulates the production of IFNgamma from T-cells and natural killer cells, and also induces differentiation of Th1 helper cells. IL2 is involved in the stimulation and maintenance of Th1 cellular immune responses, including the normal host defence against various intracellular pathogens, such as Leishmania, Toxoplasma, Measles virus, and Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).
