This kit is based on the quantitative measurement of extracellular reduction of the water soluble tetrazolium dye MTS [2-(4-Iodophenyl)-3-4-nitrophenyl)-5-(2, 4 - disulfophenyl)-2H-tetrazolium sodium salt] to water soluble coloured formazan product by metabolically active cells.
